0 miles, lazing around in Le Tréport

It rained hard all night last night, really hard. The tent did its job and kept us nice and dry although some of the pegs had started to pull out of the ground where it had got so soft. It’s pretty hard to sleep with the sound of constant wet hammering against the fly sheet so I was glad we weren’t packing up and moving on today. After a breakfast of baguette with ham and samphire (a local delicacy) and a couple of cups of coffee the rain eased and we walked into town along the harbour wall and found a cyber café which did some very nice espresso as well as internet connections. We wasted the rest of the day exploring the back streets and people watching from the bars before heading back to camp for dinner. Fresh vegetable tagliatelle with red wine. The cheapest wine we’ve found so far was €1.85 for 1.5 litres. Not bad. Not very nice either, but when it’s that cheap you can’t complain.
The wind had got quite chilly and we decided against an evening stroll back into town, and instead went to bed for possibly the coldest night’s sleep I’ve ever had.
