What a terrible night! Wind heaved the tent left and right, rain hammered down all night long and in the morning a fierce Southerly wipped nasty looking clouds across the sky. We’d planned to pack up early and get rolling by half eight, but we took a glance out of the flap and managed to talk each other into staying put another day.
After a relaxed breakfast we walked back into town, it’s almost starting to feel like home after three visits, and a chunk of the day was spent in a trendy créperie which offered free wi-fi, delicious espressos and a very reasonable lunch of beautifully cooked rump steak and chips.
Being Monday, all the grocery shops were shut so the evening meal would have to be boiled eggs and tomatoes in a baguette, but that would just about do after our steak lunch earlier. We spent a little time watching ducks and small fish in the river before wandering back to camp where I trawled through tourist pamphlets to find more out about a twelve Kilometer cycle route I’d heard about, that links Bernay to Broglie, which should make for a stress and hill free start to our journey tomorrow. Hopefully the weather will be more cycle friendly.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention, we had a fun game of table tennis, which I won convincingly.
