0 miles, Le Bugue
Posted by Brock under France
Brock woke really early and cycled off to get breakfast in the town. On his return we ate the nicest pain aux raisin so far, and then set off on the bikes for the short ride into town to get groceries before the super market shut at 11.45. Unfortunately I’d broken a spoke so when we got back Brock had some maintenance to do. We ate lunch under the shade of a tree on our pitch and enjoyed some local Dordogne walnuts while desperately trying to keep our other goodies cool by wrapping them in a wet towel. Brock managed to update the blog then we returned to our pitch to drink wine in the late afternoon sunshine. Two new cycle tourers turned up on the pitch next door but one to ours, an English/American couple who miffed me straight away as I felt they were not suitably sweaty. The woman was far too lively as she declared loudly that they’d cycled 31 miles. They seemed to be in a bit of a flap though, it was quite late and he seemed desperate to get in the pool. They had ignored us up till this point, so Brock greeted them with a cheery hello and a ‘how’s it going?’ but they brushed us off with a ‘Good so far.’ and no friendly reciprocation. They then seemed to do their best to avoid any conversation or eye contact with us for the rest of the evening. Brock laughed as I tried to score points by comparing their equipment with ours, though he did nose at their bikes through his binoculars!
